LAB BENCH

Lab bench is a facility inside a laboratory in the form of a sturdy table. Most manual works are done on these tables.

They range from simple flat surfaces to very complex designs that may be considered tools themselves. Lab benches sometimes vary in size, from tiny jeweller bench to huge benches that are used by staircase makers.

Almost all workbenches are rectangular, usually using the surface, corners, and edges as flat/square and dimension standards. Their designs vary for the type of work that is required. Most of the shared attributes for lab benches are:

  • Comfortable height for working with provisions for seated or standing work
  • Provide a way to fix the workpiece to the surface so that workers may work with both hands

These workbenches can be classified into a few styles including multi-purpose or portable. This type of workbench is small, light, collapsible, and typically have built-in clamps. They are used for a wide range of manual work.

Woodworking which is more popular with any woodwork can be specialized for joinery, cabinetmaking, patternmaking, stair building, carving, carpentry, or trimming works.

Metalworkers require a workbench which is built to handle grinding, welding, light casting, and forging works.
