Chemical filters are commonly used in aquaria environment and applications for a good reason. It is a good option as it is a proper way to keep the water pure and clear. Chemical filters are not used in all applications, however, as both are mostly from mechanical and biological filters. The choices for the types of chemical filters come in many variations so choosing the right one will help for a long time.

Three types of the most commonly used chemical filters available in the market today are canister filters, trickle filter, and power filter and reactor. The canister filter is available as free-standing and hang-on units. The trickle filter is great for reef hobbyist as it combines a variety of filters including chemicals. Lastly, the power filter and reactor where water is pumped through a canister-type chamber and exposed to the chemical media.
